Brooke Porter (Spring 2011-Summer 2011)
Brooke PorterWorking for the Center for Visual Arts (CVA) has taught me the important role that art plays within a community.  Many think that the value society places on art has become lost, but every day that I work for the CVA I am reminded that it is the foundation to our community and communities around the world. My favorite form of media is photography with a focus on social documentary work. I’m alumni of the Denver Center for International Studies and I will be attending Mills College in California in the fall. I will be perusing a degree in International Relations and Studio Arts.

Olivia Blumenthal (Spring 2011 & Fall 2011)
C:\Users\Kendyl\Downloads\pbb.jpgThe ABC program does an excellent job of providing safe, and creative environments for kids to experience the art process. Working as a PAL in the program taught me about how important it is to help kids have these kind of experiences. I was able to watch students gain confidence, inspiration, and relationships by being in control of their own creativity. For myself, one of the most valuable ways to make art is by collaboration. So most of my art work is a product of team work. I like exploring collaborative art as a process, medium and message. I love being in the city and out of the city, and I will always consider Denver home.

Kelvin Rico-Pineda (Summer 2011)
Kelvin_Rico_Pineda_Summer_2011.JPGEast high school alumni. Fan of abstract art. Working here at the Center for Visual Arts (CVA), I have learned of new ways to find art in my community. I am attending Metro and plan on graduating with a degree in the medical field. This internship has given me the opportunity to attain more social skills, art education, and projects for the community’s children.
